Hello,

I am new to php and can't get your script to work that downloads data from TemplateMonster to my database. I am aware that I need to set up the store after but would pay you to just transfer the data.

Help Please!

Hello Anita,

do you have your own web-server?
Using that script you need to parse the 100MB (and bigger) XML file. A shared hosting provider will not allow you to use that amount of memory.

You say that you're new to PHP, downloading (syncing) the data is one part. Building a websites from that data using PHP is another part.
How do you do that?

Thanks for your response. I currently have a reseller package so, I have 5GB of disk space allotted to me. Do you feel that would be enough?

I am new to php but have built several CMS sites. I feel I will be able to build the site once I transfer the data.

Oops, I was mistaken. I have 50GB with the reseller account.

Hi,

the problem is not the webspace but the memory a single PHP task needs. My last shared hosting provider provided me with dedicated ~160MB memory and that was not enough. :(

Now I'm using my own VPS for that application.

I am new to php but have built several CMS sites. I feel I will be able to build the site once I transfer the data.

In my opinion is the "data transfer" module much easier to build than building a custom website. It's up to you, I just want to warn you before make any costs. Even if you can build (with some help) the template website, you need at least a year before you earn any money (if you don't advertise).

My (free) advice is: If you own a website that has lots of related traffic, you can build a template section for that site. A stand alone website template site makes not so much sense because there are so many.

Thank you for your wise advice. However, I have been generating revenue for over a year and I usually just give my clients my affiliate link to purchase their templates, but would like to incorporate it into a website. The website will be exactly as you explained with a template section. I just don't like the redirection.

If it is possible with my hosting than I don't mind paying for the convenience for my clients. If your saying that I would have to go to VPS than I will abandon this idea all together.

Thank you so much for your help!

You're welcome...

Yes you should use a VPS, you need to have access to the commandline and in many cases some missing PHP lib need to get installed. Note that a managed VPS server is not so cheap as an reseller account.

Do you tried the ready made shop from TM? I used a modified version for more than a year. Try to contact their marketing division, maybe they with some stylesheet (just tell them what your plans are)
